Death Waltz Recording company are going to release Akira Ifukube’s 1954 GODZILLA score for the first time ever on vinyl.

It will come as a limited edition (of 400) deluxe gatefold 180 gram Atomic Breath vinyl, housed in a heavyweight tip-on, case-bound gatefold jacket printed on beautiful textured Galtex Prima card containing an exclusive full colour booklet with liner notes by Japanse cinema expert Jasper Sharpe & Film On Wax Editor Charlie Bridgen, with exclusive art by Cheung Chung Tat wrapped in an OBI strip. There’ll also be a one off pressing of 400 units standard edition in a 350gsm single pocket jacket with a poster.

Plus, a green vinyl housed inside a 350gsm single pocket jacket with a poster will also be available.

Track listings on both releases will be identical.

All go on sale June 21, 2014 – however they won’t be available in the USA. These will be released in the UK only.

City of the Living Dead Vinyl Soundtrack

Death Waltz Recording Company and Light in the Attic have announced they’ll be releasing vinyl pressings of Fabio Frizzi’s score to the 1980 horror film City of the Living Dead.

The release will occur with two separate releases:

  1. June 21, 2014: The first is a deluxe gatefold edition limited to 350 copies. It comes on 180 gram solid yellow swirl vinyl with an orange and red splatter effect, house in a heavyweight tip-on, case-bound gatefold jacket printed on beautiful textured Galtex Prima card. Contains an exclusive full colour booklet with liner notes by Composer Fabio Frizzi , Star Lombardo Giovanni Radice, Italian horror expert Stephen Thrower and Artist Graham Humphreys wrapped in an OBI strip.   2. June 29, 2014: The second pressing is a standard retail pressing on 180 gram clear red vinyl. Learn more and/or preorder the standard pressing here.

THE CONGRESS Vinyl Soundtrack

Milan Records are releasing a vinyl pressing of Max Richter’s soundtrack to The Congress.

The release date is set for July 22, 2014.

This is one we’re really looking forward to. Richter’s score to the animated sci-fi film is nothing short of breathtaking, evoking the deep and consequential events the film portrays!

BATMAN BEGINS Orange Vinyl SoundtrackSilva Screen Records are going to release a new vinyl pressing of Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard’s score to Batman Begins.

The new release will come on orange vinyl, be a double LP pressing, and will come in a gatefold jacket.

Expect it June 30, 2014.

The previous release was a limited edition of 500 copies and is now out of print and considered rare. At the time of this post there are a couple of these older prints available on Ebay.

DUNE Vinyl Soundtrack

Music on Vinyl are going to repress Toto’s score to the 1984 sci-fi film Dune to celebrate its 30th Anniversary.

Release date is May 19, 2014.

The release will be on 180 gram audiophile vinyl.

The score features music by Toto (minus lead singer Bobby Kimball), accompanied by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna Volksoper Choir.

It marks Toto’s first and only film score.

One track for the movie called “Prophecy Theme” was composed by Brian Eno.

Originally released in 1984, the soundtrack album contained select cues in their original film order, plus two pieces of dialogue from the movie that served as bookends for two tracks (“Prologue” and “The Floating Fat Man (The Baron)”).

THE VISITOR 180 Gram Vinyl Soundtrack Mondo 2014

Mondo will be releasing a vinyl pressing of Franco Micalizzi’s score to Giulio Paradisi’s 1979 sci-fi film The Visitor.

The release will be on black 180 gram double LP but will also feature randomly inserted colored (sunburst) pressings.

Artwork is by Jay Shaw.

It will feature 8 tracks from the film never before released on vinyl.

Initial price is $30. Expect this to dramatically increase when resellers buy up and on sell, as usual.

The first of these pressings will go on sale this weekend at Texas Frightmare Weekend.

After that fans should look out for the pressing to hit Mondo’s store on May 9, 2014.

Music on Vinyl will be releasing Alexandre Desplat’s score to director Gareth Edwards’ 2014 Godzilla on vinyl.

It is possible that this reference is to a various artists song score release, though that would seem unlikely given the upcoming CD soundtrack release (due May 12, 2014) is of Alexandre Desplat’s score.

Drinking Buddies Soundtrack

Joe Swanberg’s 2013 romance drama Drinking Buddies is getting a vinyl release.

The pressing will hit shelves on June 10th.

Label is Jagjaguwar Records.

JURASSIC PARK Mondo Vinyl Soundtrack (10)

As we mentioned a couple of days ago, Mondo are about to release a brand new vinyl pressing of John Williams’ score to Jurassic Park.

Today Mondo have disclosed more details about the release, the features of which are:

  • 2 x 180 gram vinyl LP’s
  • Release date is June 11, 2014
  • The release is to celebrate the 21st anniversary of the film’s theatrical release
  • There are two different versions: Version A) Artwork by JC Richard, pressed on 180 gram Black Vinyl with randomly inserted “Dilophosaurus” colored Vinyl. The initial price is $35. Version B) New artwork by Dan McCarthy, pressed on 180 gram Translucent Amber Vinyl, limited to 1,000 copies
  • People attending the Mondo Austin local Gallery can purchase the record a few days before its official release
  • These will not be distributed to record stores.

GARDEN STATE Vinyl Soundtrack

Legacy are set to release a double LP vinyl pressing of the various artists soundtrack to Zach Braff’s 2004 comedy film Garden State.

This is the first time the soundtrack has been released on vinyl.

Features “Don’t Panic” by Coldplay, “Caring is Creepy” by The Shins, “In the Waiting Line” by Zero 7, “Blue Eyes” by the Cary Brothers and more.
